Real Estate M&A Activity Still Growing

The real estate technology market is officially red hot: According to a new Software Equity Group report, the number of real estate software acquisitions grew 17 annually for the past four years.

The Real Estate Software M&A 2018 Snapshot analyzes market trends and software vendor market maps across the multifamily, commercial, and residential segments. The report lists most active software buyers and provides details on notable transactions.

 Consider the following topline findings:

  • 2017’s 100 real estate software M&A transactions mark another high point and the fourth consecutive year of sector deal growth (17% 4-Yr CAGR) within the real estate software industry.
  • The residential and commercial categories accounted for the largest percentage of deals during 2017, comprising 49% and 35% of all real estate transactions, respectively.
  • Private equity firms drove nearly 40% of real estate software M&A transactions in 2017.
