New executives announced at Advanced Micro Devices, FuseSource, Symantec and other software companies

Advanced Micro Devices, a developer of semiconductor technologies, named Rory Read Chief Executive Officer. He was formerly President and Chief Operating Officer at Lenovo Group. The appointment concludes a seven-month search. Read, who spent 23 years at IBM, is a “proven leader with an impressive record of driving profitable growth,” Bruce Claflin, AMD’s chairman, said. Read’s task is increasing the company’s performance in its existing markets, improving profitability and developing thoughtful strategy to take it into new areas.
Chuck Ganapathi left Salesforce.com last month and is now entrepreneur-in-residence at Accel Partners, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. Ganapathi, who built Salesforce.com’s Chatter software, said he hopes the position will help him come up with a start-up idea in the field of business and social media.
Building out its executive team to grow aggressively, DreamBox Learning has added three new executives: Greg Long as Senior Vice President of Product Development, Patti Smith as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management and Sherri Bealkowski as Vice President of Sales. Bealkowski was formerly General Manager at Microsoft, where she spent a decade overseeing U.S. education sales and the company’s worldwide education strategy. Greg Long oversaw product development at LeapFrog SchoolHouse, working with Woolley-Wilson, prior to joining language software company Rosetta Stone. Patti Smith managed marketing, product development and strategy at a variety of companies including Houghton Mifflin and Thinkwell.

INX, a Houston, TX provider of IP-based unified communications and data center/cloud infrastructure solutions, named William Casper Vice President and Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. He was formerly Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at SourceCorp.
FuseSource, a Bedford, MA, a provider of open-source integration and messaging solutions, named Paul Harsha Vice President of Engineering. He was formerly Chief Technology Officer at Online Buddies.
Mandiant, an Alexandria, VA provider of advanced threat detection and response solutions and services, named Gregory Enriquez Vice President of Worldwide Sales. He was formerly Worldwide Sales Services and Marketing at SwapDrive.
Polycom, a Pleasanton, CA provider of unified communications solutions named Navin Mehta Senior Vice President of Global Services. Mehta was formerly Vice President of Professional and Application Services at Motorola Networks.
Prometric, a Baltimore, MD provider of test development and delivery solutions, named Karim Zakhour Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa. He was formerly Vice President of Business Development at Worldnet Group.

Talari Networks, a San Jose, CA provider of WAN virtualization solutions, named Emerick Woods President and Chief Executive Officer. He was formerly Chief Executive Officer at Global IP Solutions.
Veeam Software, a Columbus, OH provider of VMware data protection, disaster recovery and VMware management solutions for virtual datacenter environments, named Doug Hazelman Vice President of Product Strategy and Chief Evangelist. He was formerly IT infrastructure consultant at Bennett Adelson.
