Startups are often strapped for cash and need to make business decisions with return on investment in mind. In a technology startup environment, that QA group in Bangalore - the one that comes in at half the cost - is very appealing. This is a classic mistake of being penny wise and pound foolish. Distributed teams can work for well defined and regimented work. But startups working on new, disruptive initiatives don't fall into that category.
