Fast forward to Software 2007, SAP is a global business leader with $12 billion in sales and Plattner has cemented his place as one of the founding fathers of enterprise software. Plattner made a rare conference speaking appearance at the Software 2007 podium. As he delivered the opening keynote, “Innovation, Speed & Success,” he looked much like the visiting Stanford University professor he is. While sharing details of SAP’s next-generation system, code named “A1S,” Plattner provided insight on how innovation has changed at SAP, what customers will expect from new software apps and why success means it is time to start something new.
